Basketball Recap: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Sacramento Adventist Capitals

The Mesa Verde Mavericks came into Monday's game having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Sacramento Adventist by a score of 55-43 on Monday. The win was just what Mesa Verde needed coming off of a 70-41 defeat in their prior matchup.

Mesa Verde's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mathew Garcia led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Garcia also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Ryan Jorgensen was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds.

Mesa Verde's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-21. As for Sacramento Adventist, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th.
