Softball Recap: Flippin Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Flippin waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Green Forest Tigers. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly 15 runs.

Kelsey Hickey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Flippin got a massive performance out of Adrianne Benedict, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Cadence Pendergrass was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases.

Flippin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Forest only posted an OBP of .167.

Flippin pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Green Forest, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Flippin will take on Salem at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st. Salem's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Flippin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Green Forest, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Prairie Grove at 5:00 p.m. on April 1. This will be Green Forest's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
