Recap: Troy Trojans vs. Canton Warriors

The Troy Trojans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Canton 69-17 on the road. That 69-17 margin sets a new team best for Troy this season.

When it comes to explaining why Canton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ben Fitch. Despite the final result, he scored ten points. The matchup was Fitch's ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Canton struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Troy's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Canton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Troy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Seton Catholic Central at 11:45 a.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Seton Catholic Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. Canton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cowanesque Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
