Softball Recap: Freedom Takes a Loss

The matchup between Freedom and Battlefield on Friday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Eagles took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

McKenzie Powell stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Ashleigh Bronowicz was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Battlefield, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Freedom has already played their next game, a 7-4 win against Osbourn Park on the 15th. As for Battlefield, they will take on Patriot at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
