Soccer Recap: Fort Lauderdale Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Lauderdale). Their defense stepped up to hand the Miramar Patriots an 8-0 shutout on Monday. While Fort Lauderdale didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13-2), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Their offense was hitting Miramar from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Damaris Villatoro led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

The victory (which was Fort Lauderdale's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Miramar, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Lauderdale will host Taravella at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Miramar, they will challenge West Broward at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
