Softball Recap: Angleton Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Angleton waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Almeta Crawford Chargers a 19-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rylee Church made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Jenna Sebests was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Hailey Broussard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

Angleton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Angleton pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Almeta Crawford, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Angleton will take on Ball at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Almeta Crawford will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on La Marque at 6:30 p.m. on March 18th.
