Video: Recap - Kimberly vs. Franklin 2016
See two of Wisconsin's best teams do battle last season.

Victories in the 2014 and 2015 Division 1 state title games gave Kimberly their third and fourth titles in a row, respectively. Turns out those victories churned out more than championship rings - they cemented the Papermakers' status as the dominant team from Wisconsin since MaxPreps became America's source for high school sports back in 2006.

Kimberly got a points boost by beating Arrowhead in the '14 and '15 championship games and in the process prevented the Warhawks from getting enough points to take the top spot. Both teams have appeared in seven title games in the MaxPreps era.

It's tough for small schools to crack the list due to strength of scheduling. But it's hard to deny St. Mary's Springs in the No. 5 spot. The Ledgers reached the Division 6 title game in five of six seasons between 2010 and 2015, and four of those appearances finished with the Ledgers holding the title trophy.

Here is how the points break down:

1. 20 for a state title

2. 10 for state championship game appearance

3. Other points are based on where a team finished in the final MaxPreps Wisconsin Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive 25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
