Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central was the 60-58 winner over Washington County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the Central Chargers and the Washington County Golden Hawks didn't end well, with the Central Chargers falling 71-57.

Leading Washington County to victory were Brashod Heggs and Zion Cordy. Heggs went 8 of 12 en route to 17 points and six assists, while Cordy went 5 for 7 to rack up 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Cordy now owns an excellent 40.4% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Johnson, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Washington County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-16.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Washington County, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against East Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Laurens knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Washington County likes a good challenge.
