Basketball Recap: St. Anthony Takes a Loss

St. Anthony lost to St. Joseph Academy back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets were dealt a 69-15 loss at the hands of the Bloodhounds. The contest marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Anthony's loss came despite strong showings from Emily Ramon and Gianna Ortiz. Ramon posted six points, while Ortiz had five points.

St. Joseph Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Alvarez, who went 8-for-9 on her way to 16 points and three steals. Alvarez has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Galilea Martinez was another key player, shooting 56% from the field en route to 11 points along with eight boards and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Anthony and nudges their season record down to 5-14. As for St. Joseph Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

St. Anthony didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-46 defeat against St. Augustine on the 9th. As for St. Joseph Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-45 win against Saint Mary's Hall on the 9th.
