While Hobgood Charter's win against North East Carolina Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Hobgood Charter had just enough and edged out North East Carolina Prep 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since April 16, 2024.
LUKE LANIER spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Hobgood Charter saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MASON MILLS, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cape Hatteras, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Ocracoke 11-1 on Friday. With that win, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Trae Wyatt was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Liam Van Druten, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Hobgood Charter's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Cape Hatteras, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hobgood Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Cape Hatteras struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
