Baseball Recap: Cleveland Extends Winning Streak to Six

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cleveland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Garner Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Trojans since April 6, 2022.

Henry Blackman and Caleb Lynn did most of the damage at the plate: Blackman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Lynn went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Brayden McArthur was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Cleveland, bringing their record up to 14-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Garner, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Cleveland will square off against South Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garner, they will challenge Southeast Raleigh at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
