Baseball Game Preview: Skyline Eagles vs. Monroe Trojans

Skyline is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Monroe Trojans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Skyline has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Monroe will arrive with three straight wins.

Skyline fell victim to Dexter and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Dreadnaughts. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Meanwhile, Monroe beat Jackson 7-2 on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Carson Liedel, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Monroe: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .528 or higher in three consecutive games.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
