Volleyball Recap: Yutan Chieftains vs. Freeman Falcons
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Yutan can now relate to. They came up short against the Freeman Falcons on Friday, falling 3-0. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Mylee Tichota paced Yutan's offense, picking up ten kills. Tichota got some help from Morgan Long and her 13 assists. Finally, Madison Wilson kept Yutan's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Addison Kastanek went supernova For Freeman., getting 24 digs and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Kastanek a new career-high.
Yutan's loss dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Freeman, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 28-4.
Yutan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Oakland-Craig on the 8th. As for Freeman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on the 8th.
