Softball Recap: Richland Find Success

Richland's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Azle Hornets a 15-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Royals needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

Stacy Jennings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, Dani James was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Chauncey Guerrero, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Richland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Richland's victory bumped their record up to 3-1-2. As for Azle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4-1.

Richland has already played their next game, a 13-0 win against Grand Prairie on the 25th. As for Azle, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-9 victory against Springtown on the 25th.
