Softball Recap: West Stanly Starts off Right with Win over Randleman

West Stanly had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Randleman Tigers by a score of 5-0 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Colts, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Madi Whitley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Whitley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payton Watson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West Stanly hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Randleman struck out seven times.

Randleman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

West Stanly wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-0 win against Parkwood on the 4th. As for Randleman, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Western Alamance on the 28th.
