Softball Recap: Red Hill Comes Up Short

Red Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of North Clay/Clay City.

Rhyan Fiscus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Moore made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Red Hill's record is now 9-11. As for North Clay/Clay City, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Red Hill will venture away from home to take on Lawrenceville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.26 runs per game on average), something the Salukis will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Clay/Clay City, they will face off against Farina South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
