Basketball Game Preview: Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats vs. Walton Warriors

The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats will face off against the Walton Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bainbridge-Guilford, who comes in off a win.

Last Monday, Bainbridge-Guilford earned a 44-31 win over Windsor Central. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Black Knights are ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jayslin Henderson was her usual excellent self, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Bainbridge-Guilford is 12-3 when Henderson posts three or more steals, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Marissa Mayo, who posted 12 points and six boards.

Bainbridge-Guilford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Walton came up short against Oxford Academy on Friday and fell 52-40. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Walton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Walley earned 23 points.

Bainbridge-Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Walton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Bainbridge-Guilford took their win against Walton when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 54-32. Will Bainbridge-Guilford repeat their success, or does Walton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
