Baseball Recap: Middletown Takes a Loss

Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 17-8 to the Avon Falcons. If the Blue Dragons were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Falcons when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jake Haniewski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Savino Civitillo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Avon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Avon will face off against Northwest Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Middletown will be paying especially close attention to the Falcons' game: after the Falcons face off against Lewis Mills, they'll take on Middletown again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
