Perkins-Tryon is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Sulphur is on a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perkins-Tryon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Sulphur likes a good challenge.
Perkins-Tryon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Friday. They slipped by Cascia Hall 35-34.

Perkins-Tryon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wyatt Atkinson out in front who rushed for 221 yards and one TD while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Atkinson's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. Beau Gravitt also helped with two touchdowns in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Perkins-Tryon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 340 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Atkinson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sulphur). They claimed a resounding 77-28 victory over Holland Hall. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Dutch are ranked 46th).
Perkins-Tryon better keep an eye on Maddax Mobly. He was instrumental in Sulphur's win, rushing for 149 yards and four scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 79 receiving yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Jojo Gray, who rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries.
Perkins-Tryon's record now sits at 9-3. As for Sulphur, their record is now 12-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Perkins-Tryon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 245 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sulphur struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 214.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Perkins-Tryon suffered a grim 42-20 defeat to Sulphur when the teams last played back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mobly, who rushed for 171 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and also picked up 80 receiving yards and one TD. Now that the Demons know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
