Softball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-3 to the Itasca Wampus Cats. The Yellowjackets were not able to make up for their loss to the Wampus Cats from their previous meeting back in March of 2023.

Mailey Padgett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Itasca, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will challenge Italy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Italy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. Itasca will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Frost at 4:30 p.m. on March 25th.
