Basketball Preview: Minford Falcons vs. Portsmouth West Senators
Minford is 9-1 against the Senators since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Minford Falcons will look to defend their home court against the Portsmouth West Senators at 7:00 p.m. Minford will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Minford fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Jeeps on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jeeps by a score of 64-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Portsmouth West, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-42 loss to the Trojans on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Portsmouth West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 514th, while the Trojans are ranked 174th).
Minford's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Portsmouth West, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Minford skirted past the Senators 54-52 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Minford repeat their success, or do the Senators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
