Basketball Recap: Grand Valley Cardinals vs. Roaring Fork Rams
Grand Valley was the 30-28 winner over Roaring Fork when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Grand Valley Cardinals came up short against the Roaring Fork Rams on Saturday, falling 54-31. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Rams are ranked 47th).

Despite the loss, Grand Valley still got an impressive performance from Taylor Pittman, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. Pittman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Stevens, who posted six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Grand Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.
Roaring Fork was led to victory by Carley Crownhart and Riley Bevington. Crownhart went 9 of 18 on her way to 22 points and six steals, while Bevington almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikki Tardif, who put up ten points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Grand Valley's record is now 2-6. As for Roaring Fork, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Grand Valley will venture away from home to face off against North Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roaring Fork, they will welcome Cedaredge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
