Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Comes Up Short

Grace Christian lost against Foundation Christian Academy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grace Christian Patriots fell just short of the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers by a score of 6-5.

Bryce Purkey put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Purkey wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Fanelli, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Fanelli is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Grace Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Foundation Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Grace Christian will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Riverview Academy of Math and Science at 4:00 p.m. Grace Christian is facing Riverview Academy of Math and Science at the right time seeing as Riverview Academy of Math and Science is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Foundation Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Ruskin Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
