Volleyball Recap: Kenai Central Kardinals vs. Seward Seahawks
Kenai Central was the 1-0 winner over Seward when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Kardinals fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Kardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Kenai Central took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 21-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-11.
Sophie Tapley paced Kenai Central's offense, picking up 23 kills. Tapley got some help from Gracee Every and her 30 assists. Tapley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Kenai Central's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 29-9-3. As for Seward, their win bumped their record up to 9-17.
Kenai Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against Bettye Davis East Anchorage on the 24th. Seward does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
