Basketball Recap: Carlin Ifeadi Key Part of Team Effort in Crusaders Win

Bishop Gorman's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-57 victory over the Dallas Christian Chargers. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Chargers are ranked 774th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Gorman got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carlin Ifeadi out in front who went 7-for-14 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. Ifeadi is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Beau Bender was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Bishop Gorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Dallas Christian still got an impressive performance from Cason Walker, who went 8-for-16 en route to 22 points. The dominant performance also gave Walker a new career-high in blocks (two). Isaiah Lane also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Bishop Gorman is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. As for Dallas Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-18.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bishop Gorman will take on Covenant Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th. Covenant Christian will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Bishop Gorman surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dallas Christian, they will challenge Lubbock Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lubbock Christian will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Dallas Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
