Basketball Game Preview: Desert Oasis Diamondbacks vs. Liberty Patriots

The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will venture away from home to face off against the Liberty Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Desert Oasis is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 58-22 win over Arbor View. The Diamondbacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Oasis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kazel Jones, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Upham, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, Liberty faced Churchill County in a battle between two of the state's top teams two weeks ago. Liberty took down Churchill County 41-26.

Desert Oasis' victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-5. As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Desert Oasis suffered a grim 55-32 defeat to Liberty in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Desert Oasis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
