There's no place like home for South River, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Annapolis Panthers on Wednesday. Considering the Seahawks have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
CJ Harris was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs and nine RBI while going 3-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katherine Lippincott, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cala Marano, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
South River lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
South River pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
