Basketball Recap: Geneva Comes Up Short

Geneva was the 51-34 winner over Antioch when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Geneva Vikings were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 43-42 to the Antioch Sequoits. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Sequoits are ranked 305th).

Geneva moved to 17-3 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Antioch, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.

Geneva wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-40 defeat against West Aurora on the 20th. As for Antioch, they will face off against Glenbrook North at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
