Basketball Recap: Ellis Takes a Loss

Ellis and Central Plains squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Ellis had to settle for second. They lost 43-23 to the Central Plains Oilers. The Railroaders were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 55 points in the three matchups prior), but the Oilers' defense proved too tough.

Despite the loss, Ellis still got an impressive performance from Caleb Noble-Heit, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Noble-Heit is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game.

Ellis has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points over those games. Central Plains pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Ellis nor Central Plains have any future games scheduled.
