Baseball Game Preview: Silver Bluff Bulldogs vs. Swansea Tigers

The Silver Bluff Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Swansea Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Wednesday, Silver Bluff came out on top against Westside by a score of 6-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

AJ Fontanez was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Swansea came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.

Britt Drawdy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jacob Hair and Kreaton Steppe did most of the damage at the plate: Hair scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Steppe scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Graddick, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Silver Bluff's record is now 3-9. As for Swansea, their record is now 11-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Silver Bluff has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Swansea struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
