Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Cornerstone Christian's Winning Streak

After soaring to 75 points the game before, Cornerstone Christian was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They lost to the Ellison Eagles on the road by a 39-22 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Eagles are ranked 211th).

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian still got an impressive performance from Yasmeen Schmidt, who posted 15 points. Schmidt's morning made it 29 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The defeat snapped Cornerstone Christian's winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 17-3 record. As for Ellison, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

Cornerstone Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-36 victory against Weatherford on the 7th. As for Ellison, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 46-39 win against West Oso on the 7th.
