Baseball Recap: Lincoln Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Fort Calhoun

There's no place like home for Lincoln Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They skirted past the Fort Calhoun Pioneers 3-2.

Grant DeHaan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ian Brester was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Lincoln Christian pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Calhoun, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Coming up, Lincoln Christian will head out on the road to square off against Raymond Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.47 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. Fort Calhoun has already played their next match (against Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
