Basketball Recap: Glendale Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Glendale hadn't done well against Curwensville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Golden Tide 42-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since February 6, 2025.

Despite the defeat, Curwensville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tuck Tkacik dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Tkacik. Another player making a difference was Evan McCartney, who posted ten points.

The victory (which was Glendale's third in a row) raised their record to 3-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Curwensville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, Glendale and Curwensville will both be playing West Branch the next time they take the court. The Vikings will host the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Golden Tide will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
