Recap: Faith Christian Lions vs. Valley Christian Lions

After flying high against the Cristo Rey Saints last Tuesday, the Faith Christian Lions came back down to earth. Faith Christian was the victim of a tough 88-66 defeat at the hands of Valley Christian on Thursday. Faith Christian has not had much luck with Valley Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cedric Smith, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Smith continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alec Oakley, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Valley Christian had a senior duo take command as Ian Glaspy scored 25 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds and Chase Clary scored 28 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glaspy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Urena, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.

Faith Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Sacramento Adventist the next time they take the court. Faith Christian will head out to face Sacramento Adventist at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Valley Christian will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
