Football Recap: Lathrop Skates Past Livingston with Ease

Lathrop extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 7-1. They blew past the Livingston Wolves 61-27. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Treydon Santos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 237 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, while also picking up 47 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 237 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Humza Habibi, who rushed for 120 yards and one score on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lathrop was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 506 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Lathrop, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Santos, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

As for Livingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 655th, while Lathrop is ranked 301st).

When it comes to explaining why Livingston lost, don't look at Roberto Rivera. Despite the final result, he rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Rivera has become a key player for the Wolves: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

Lathrop wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 42-7 win against Central Valley on the 24th. As for Livingston, they have also already played their next game, a 38-14 loss against Johansen on the 24th.
