Softball Recap: Forestview Comes Up Short

After soaring to 20 runs the game before, Forestview was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell 6-2 to the Palisades Pumas. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pumas apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Olivia Hensley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lily Cabe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in doubles. Another player making a difference was Miley Skidmore, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Forestview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisades struck out 11 times.

Forestview's record is now 3-6. As for Palisades, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Forestview Jaguars duke it out with North Gaston Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Gaston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Palisades, they will welcome Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palisades also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 7.7 runs per game.
