Basketball Recap: Russell Snags 13th Win in Last 14 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blazer, Russell was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Raceland Rams by a score of 53-45. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-51 back in January.

Russell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bethany Allen, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. What's more, Allen also posted a 75% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Darnell, who had 15 points and seven boards.

Russell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points over those games. As for Raceland, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10.

Russell has already played their next match, a 58-53 defeat against East Carter on the 8th. As for Raceland, they will venture away from home to face off against Greenup County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
