Softball Game Preview: York Falcons vs. Gloucester Dukes

The York Falcons will face off against the Gloucester Dukes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gloucester will be up against a hot York squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Falcons' pitcher stepped up to hand Tabb a 14-0 shutout on Friday.

Tahlia Evans made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Evans was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Leslee Maldonado was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Leah Hunter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Gloucester got the win against Bruton on Wednesday by a conclusive 13-0. The matchup marked the Dukes' most dominant victory of the season.

York's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Gloucester, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

York came out on top in a nail-biter against Gloucester in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 12-11. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dukes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
