Volleyball Recap: Madison Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Madison walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Escondido Charter Tigers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warhawks have posted since April 10th.

Madison was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (107-106), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Escondido Charter still got an impressive performance from Colin Goss, who had nine digs and two aces. Goss is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 21 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Madison is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season. As for Escondido Charter, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-14.

Madison will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
