Football Game Preview: Rocky Point Eagles vs. Eastport-South Manor Sharks

The Rocky Point Eagles will head out to take on the Eastport-South Manor Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rocky Point is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Smithtown West on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Eagles were dealt a 41-14 loss at the hands of Smithtown West. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Smithtown West are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, Eastport-South Manor never let their opponents score on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 45-0 win over Amityville Memorial. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Sharks this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Eastport-South Manor and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Rocky Point, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Rocky Point won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in September of 2024, slipping by Eastport-South Manor 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
