Monticello and Crossett are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Billies will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Monticello is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Warren on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lumberjacks by a score of 2-1. The Billies' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jagger Hines was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Monticello saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Harvey, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crossett). Everything went their way against Watson Chapel on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-0 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.

Crossett pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Monticello, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Monticello came up short against Crossett in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Billies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
