Football Game Preview: Escambia Gators vs. Booker T. Washington Wildcats

The Escambia Gators will square off against the Booker T. Washington Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Escambia comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Escambia is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Booker T. Washington on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Gators were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 56-6. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 157th).

Escambia better keep an eye on Anaiyah Adams. She was instrumental in Booker T. Washington's win, throwing for 172 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 40 yards. The dominant performance also gave Adams a new career-high in passer rating (157.9).

One reason for the win was Booker T. Washington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Jolie Larche with two.

Booker T. Washington's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 35.3 points this season. As for Escambia, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
