Baseball Recap: Kingsford Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Kingsford dropped their record down to 7-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 6-3 to the Negaunee Miners. The Flivvers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Miners earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Kingsford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Negaunee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On Negaunee's side, Tristan Slater made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Slater has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Cardinal, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Ian Engstrom was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kingsford will take on North Dickinson at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Negaunee, they will challenge Calumet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
