Basketball Recap: Mardela Comes Up Short

Mardela played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 70-19 defeat at the hands of the Decatur Seahawks. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Decatur got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lila Gunther out in front who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Gunther a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Jozlyn Tyre was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five assists and three steals.

Mardela's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Decatur, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Mardela has already played their next contest (against Parkside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Decatur, they will challenge Bennett at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Decatur is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
