Carlsbad took down Rio Grande 59-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Rodney Holcomb threw for 140 yards and five touchdowns, ran for 21 yards and caught one passes for 10 yards in the win.
The Cavemen led 5A District 4 in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on the Ravens. Holcomb in the win.
Carlsbad's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Raymond Bernard chipped in 55 yards. Dillion Caddell helped Carlsbad's passing attack out by catching two balls for 41 yards.
Marcus Arrington was the best wideout in the league this week as Ron Arrington's team beat Rio Grande. Arrington racked up two receptions for 55 yards.
The Cavemen's Holcomb and Tyler Hyden have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Holcomb has thrown for 941 yards this season, while Hyden, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 22 catches for 335 yards. Clovis's Kamal Cass leads the league in rushing yards with 664.
