Basketball Recap: Rolla's Winning Streak Snapped at Ten Games

It was a good run, but Rolla unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 51-42 to the Marquette Mustangs.

Mariah Watkins and Akaela Caquelin certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Watkins posted 17 points along with six boards and three steals, while Caquelin dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Watkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Even though they lost, Rolla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Rolla's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 24-5. As for Marquette, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Rolla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marquette, they will take on Cor Jesu Academy on Saturday.
