Softball Recap: Auburn Find Success

While Auburn's victory against Pawnee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Indians 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since April 8th.

Addi Jones and Madison Hackett did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Hackett went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skylar Meats, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 8-18. As for Pawnee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5.

Looking ahead, Auburn will take on Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Storm's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pawnee, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia at 4:30 p.m. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
