Softball Recap: Meadow Heights Panthers vs. Oak Ridge Blue Jays
Meadow Heights extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-18 in the process. They came up short against the Oak Ridge Blue Jays, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Jays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in March.
As for Oak Ridge, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.
For Oak Ridge's part, Kaelyn Deckerd made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Deckerd has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Kinsley Bogenpohl was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson Ruehling, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Meadow Heights nor Oak Ridge have any future games scheduled.
