Baseball Recap: Freer Find Success

Freer proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Ben Bolt Badgers 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in March.

Erik Leal was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 7.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Freer is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Leal was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Gonzalez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Isaac Gonzales was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Freer is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Ben Bolt, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Freer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ben Bolt, they will square off against San Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vaqueros' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Badgers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
