Basketball Recap: Evie Kendall Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Gunnison Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richfield, North Sanpete was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs by a score of 51-40. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

North Sanpete's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evie Kendall, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Sadie Job was another key player, putting up nine points and seven steals.

Gunnison Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryler Blackburn, who posted eight points and six steals, and Linsi Hansen, who had eight points and three steals. Blackburn has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

North Sanpete is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. As for Gunnison Valley, they moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

North Sanpete will face off against Juan Diego Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gunnison Valley, they will challenge Grand County at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
